  Dedicated to the best dental care experience for our patients, Dr. Sarah disproves the rumored brain drain. She is local, graduating from Chippewa High School in 1997.  An athlete and a scholar, her interest in healthcare was evident early on. She majored in Biology and Chemistry at Walsh University while running track and cross country. 

Her commitment to serve all led her to become a firefighter and EMT and dedicate 7 years to her hometown Marshallville Fire Department. She wanted to change lives a smile at a time and realized dentistry was her passion. She received her Doctorate in Dental Science Degree from Ohio State University School of Dentistry in 2005. It should come as no surprise that she was awarded the Carl O. Boucher Award in Prosthodontics and the Operative Dentistry Award that same year. By the way, she did not relinquish her athleticism that year. She also ran the Boston Marathon.

Three years later she married Salvatore Oliverio. (He may have made her weak in the knees. She can no longer run but does lift weights!) The Oliverio’s are blessed with 12 year old twins, Salvatore and Stella. 

Dr. Oliverio and her husband Salvatore reside on a 30 acre hobby farm with their 12 year-old twins.  They spend time attending their kids sporting events and raising beef cows.

 Small communities throughout Ohio have been losing native talent, often out of state.  Louisville is different.  The deep family roots and innate charm of our hometown is an irresistible draw.  Dr. Kristin Donaldson is a perfect example.  

She knew early on she was service-oriented and wanted a career dedicated to serving others and building lasting relationships.  She was quick to realize dentistry was her calling.  Dr. Donaldson graduated as a valedictorian from St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Summa Cum Laude from nearby Walsh University, where she studied Pre-Dentistry.  She went on to pursue her dental degree at Case Western Reserve University, where she earned the Callahan Memorial award and the Alpha Omega Fraternity award (both of which are awarded to the top student in the class), as well as recognition for outstanding clinical achievement in periodontics.  She is a member of the American, Ohio, and Stark dental associations, as well as the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honors society.

After completing her dental program in 2013, Dr. Donaldson has always desired to return home to serve the community she adores.  Born and raised in Louisville, she loves the close-knit “hometown feeling”.  One of her favorite memories growing up was participating in the dedication of Mary C. Metzger park, built on land that was gifted by her great-aunt; today, Kristin and her husband Austin Wenger enjoy taking their children to play at the park and even coach a youth soccer team that plays there.  After practicing elsewhere for the past nine years, Dr. Kristin Donaldson is now linked with another pillar of the Louisville community, joining Foundation Dental on 309 South Chapel Street.

When she is not changing lives a smile at a time through dentistry at Foundation Dental, she can be found playing with her children and enjoying family.  Active and adventurous, when weather allows Dr. Donaldson enjoys all types of sports, tending to her family’s vegetable garden, and is a slalom water skier!  

Meet Dr. Derek James Fickes, DMD. Born and raised in the serene community of Columbiana, south of Youngstown, Ohio, Dr. Fickes developed a passion for dentistry from an early age! 

Dr. Fickes started on his educational journey at Youngstown State University, where he pursued his undergraduate studies. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, setting a solid foundation for his future in the field of dentistry. Eager to broaden his understanding and acquire advanced skills, Dr. Fickes continued his education at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio to pursue his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. 

He graduated from Case Western Reserve University with honors, earning recognition for his exemplary academic achievements. During his time at Case Western Reserve University, Dr. Fickes's exceptional talents and remarkable potential were acknowledged when he was presented with the American Academy of General Dentistry Award. This prestigious honor is presented to the graduate who demonstrates the highest aptitude and potential for the general practice of dentistry. 

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Fickes maintains a well-rounded and fulfilling life outside of dentistry. He is an advocate for physical fitness and enjoys strength training to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As a practitioner and teacher of martial arts, he finds balance and discipline in the practice, which complements his dedication to patient care. Dr. Fickes also cherishes spending quality time outdoors with his loved ones, enjoying the beauty of nature and nurturing cherished relationships. 

Dr. Fickes's passion for dentistry, combined with his exceptional academic achievements and commitment to providing excellent patient care, make him a highly valuable asset to our Foundation Dental team and patients! We are so excited to have him on board Changing Lives a Smile at a Time!
